Taoist Funeral Service

Taoist funeral services can vary from very elaborate to simplified, depending on the preferences of the family. There may be differences in procedures depending on the family’s dialect group which we will be able to customise for.

We are also involved in managing the necessary proceedings in a Taoist funeral service such as the transfer of the body into our care, booking of cremation and/or burial slots and also post-funeral services.

Embrace Funerals with a Modern Approach

With over 20 years of experience in handling different religious funeral arrangements, we can deliver a professional service with a modern approach:

  1. We revamped the traditional funeral set up to give it a cleaner, brighter and modern look
  2. Changed all lighting used to environmentally friendly LED bulbs
  3. Upgraded our music player and sound systems for better ambience and BGM
  4. We use a PA system to make announcements and provide guidance; for a more soothing and professional atmosphere and ambience.
  5. Instead of the traditional way of asking customers to hand write our instructions, we provide a printed SOP and guide to our customers on the things to look out for and take note. (Download a simplified funeral guide here)
  6. Introduced the Service of funeral emcee to conduct funeral services, making funeral services more professional and with 仪式感 or sense of ceremony.
  7. Provide customers with transparent and clear written packages so they can plan the funeral according to their budget
  8. Revamped the customer service experience into a modern hospitality approach, and taking on a more customer experience centric flow and process

Taoist Funeral Rites, Traditions and Customs

Taoists’ strongly relate death with transformation and immortality. The rituals and procedures conducted also vary between different dialect groups i.e. Teochew, Hokkien, Hakka, Cantonese and Hainanese.

Despite the differences, the concept underlying the principle of filial piety continually revolves around them as part of their customs and traditions. This is with the belief that the deceased will be forgiven for their sins that they committed previously and help them achieve a smooth journey.

A Taoist funeral is generally held over an odd number of days, usually between three, five or seven days. Some rituals that are also commonly performed include: Collecting merits for the deceased, Gaining protection for the deceased’s body from evil, Separating the dead from the living, Seeking forgiveness for sins and being blessed by family members and friends.

Taoist funerals involve a lot of details and every ritual, every procedure has a specific meaning behind them. We take great importance in ensuring that the Taoist customs and rites of each family’s needs are taken well care of. This is according to the belief that it can help the deceased transit smoothly into their next life.
